Google Now Allows You To Disable The Sitelinks Search Box

In the starting days of September, Google launch the Sitelink search box that gives webmaster the capacity to control how Google handles searches conducted within the search within this site, in the snippet area of Google search result. Google now gives the control to the webmaster to disable the feature completely. For example, if you search for in Google, Google will add a box under the first YouTube result, that lets you search within just the youtube.com domain, this also known as a site command search. Developers have more control over how those searches work and if they land on your internal site search pages or not . Watch out WhatsApp: Google may be launching a free messaging app very soon

Reuters Software giant Google Inc plans to launch a mobile messaging app it is likely to test in India and other emerging markets, the Economic Times reported on Friday , citing sources. If launched, the mobile app will compete in the mobile chat space with the likes of WhatsApp, Line and Hike. The daily said Google was in the early stages of development of the app, which will not make it mandatory to use a Google login. Moreover, unlike WhatsApp, where users have to pay Rs 53 annually after one year of usage, Google's messaging app will be free. The Mountain View, California-based company is also looking at localisation, by adding Indian language support and voice-to-text messaging, the newspaper said. Google Patent Aims to Use TV as a Signal in its Search Algorithm

Google’s latest patent gaining buzz is one that seems to suggest the search engine will know what television show is playing near the device a person is using to perform a search on.  Bill Slawski, founder of consulting and SEO service company, SEO by the Sea, keeps a watchful eye on Google patents and what they may mean to the future of search. Google, Yahoo, Apple urge US govt to protect email privacy

Reuters / Aly Song Dozens of tech giants, including Google, Yahoo, Apple, Facebook and Twitter, have written to the US government urging ‘to bring to the floor’ a bill which gives more privacy protection to their users’ emails and other information stored on their servers. The companies want Email Privacy Act to be approved by the authorities. It was introduced May 2013 and is still waiting to be passed by the US bodies. The new bill “would make it clear that the warrant standard of the US Constitution applies to private digital information just as it applies to physical property,” say the companies in two letters to House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid . How Google Evaluate New Search Algorithms

Few days ago Head of Search Spam Matt Cutts gives us a video that describe how Google evaluating new search algorithm which one they are going to use or which one they are going throw away. A question was asked by James Foster of Sydney: What metrics Google used to calculate that one function of the ranking algorithm is gives the good quality result to user than other? Matt Cutts give the answer into the three steps, that how they evaluate search algorithms: They test the results of the algorithms and compare their results rank with the new algorithms offline, If the URLs in the result are of high quality then the last algorithms takes place. The quality of a URL is based on search quality raters that how they rate the URLs in the last cases.
