Since Esther seems to have pulled an Oliver, I've decided to bring back my Arrow recap for the week.* So: Arrow 3x13 Uprising, the finale of a three parter an episode coming on the heels of an excellent episode and mostly terrible one, manages to be just so-so, mostly because we don't dwell very much on the credulity straining main plot in favour of some great character moments. It's official: we've hit Arrow's midseason slump. Some parts of this episode worked and some of them really didn't. The flashbacks to the time where Tommy's mother was killed were a nice surprise and they worked very well. Merlyn has been a bit of a cartoon villain so far, helped along by John Barrow hamming it up. And it worked, but it's nice to flesh out the character a little more. What didn't work: Attempting to sell us Melyn actually caring about someone else for a change. He's still a fucking psychopath, even his wife's death is all about what he lost and his...

In "Arrow's" last episode, fans cringed when they saw their beloved superhero fall off a cliff. Did Oliver Queen finally meet his demise? Is Oli really gone? That's highly doubtful, given that he is the central character of the show. So, what's going to happen then?  The sneak peek already gave a tease as to how Oliver will return to Starling City. But of course, the promo didn't give all the details away. Everyone will have to wait for "Arrow" to return for its mid-season premiere in January to find out what really happens. Though Arrow's upcoming episode, "Canaries," won't air until February 2015, Showrunner Marc Guggenheim is already hyping it as a can’t-miss episode. "Canaries" will turn the clock back to Season Three’s premiere, according to Guggenheim, and will feature the return of Caity Lotz as Canary and Peter Stormare as Count Vertigo. As fans might recall, The Count was that episode’s main villain, and almost succeeded in killing a Vertigo-drugged Arrow before Canary saved the Emerald Archer at the last second. It was only a few moments after that confrontation that Oliver Queen’s sister, Thea, killed Laurel. However, those final scenes may have contained more than what met the eye, Guggenheim explained to TVLine . “ Arrow ” has cast British actor Vinnie Jones as comicbook villain Danny “Brick” Brickwell in season three, Variety has learned exclusively. In DC Comics canon, “Brick” is a Green Arrow villain with thick, invulnerable skin. In “Arrow,” Danny Brickwell is a ruthless gang leader who brings Star City’s government to its knees. He’s known as “Brick” on the streets because he’s been shot dozens of times but never put down. Jones will appear in episodes 10, 11 and 12 of “Arrow’s” current third season. This is the character’s live-action debut, although Brick has previously appeared in the animated DC/WB series “Young Justice” and in a Green Arrow-centric DC Nation short on Cartoon Network, which you can watch below. “Arrow” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg utilized the villain during his run writing the Green Arrow comics in the late aughts, and his name was previously teased on the show as a corrupt businessman on Oliver Queen’s ( Stephen Amell ) list of targets. “Arrow”...
