Assassin’s Creed Unity: Time Anomaly Trailer Sheds New Light on Contemporary Subplot

Earlier this week, Ubisoft quietly dropped another new trailer for Assassin’s Creed Unity. The Time Anomaly trailer gave players their first hint at the contemporary storyline that will carry over into the game. In the previous games, Desmond Miles was plugged into the Animus, which detected the “genetic memories” of his ancestors. Desmond Miles is out of the picture, so the main franchise story will likely move in the direction of another character’s bloodline. The previous games featured the ancestors of Desmond Miles, and Arno Dorian is not Desmond’s ancestor. The brand new trailer offers the first look at the present-day timeline. It appears that the stakes of using the Animus have changed. The Time Anomaly trailer offers some exciting new wrinkles for the Assassin’s Creed unity storyline.

The voice of an unknown female character warns an unnamed Assassin that the French Revolution simulation is collapsing. The Assassin is likely the main player or character and the descendant of Arno Dorian. In Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, the main player character was never really named. I assume that could be the case here as well. The sequence in the Time Anomaly trailer shows the simulation of 18th Century Paris collapsing and turning into what looks like World War I-era Paris. The Assassin tries to outrun the simulation collapse and jumps into what appears to be a gap in the Animus simulation. The, the main Assassin player appears to land in Paris, France in the early 20th century where the main character is dodging a subway train. The scene shifts to the Assassin climbing the Eiffel Tower, still wearing his Arno Dorian garb. The Assassin is then attacked by what appears to be a WWII-era fighter plane, with blazing machine guns. He takes it down with a mounted machine gun on the tower. Some type of strange energy phenomenon or a lightning strike is occurring above the tower. An alarm sounds, and a zoom shot shows zeppelins. Could the player have landed in World War I during the zeppelin raids of Paris?

The trailer is short, quick and intense. It is hard to glean too many details about what is going on in the Time Anomaly trailer without speculation. However, the implications of the scenario are now a lot more exciting. According to Ubisoft, the phenomenon depicted in the trailer is a Time Anomaly, a new feature for franchise. This means that parts of the game could suddenly jam the player into other eras in time, including Paris during World War I. The new trailer definitely throws a curve ball in what to expect for Unity. Based on the video, there will be a lot more surprises. I cannot wait to see what else Unity has in store.

Assassin’s Creed Unity hits the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on November 11.

But this isn’t Tesla’s first sign of support for vets. The California-based car company has also committed to hiring a lot of them . “The actual work was done by SS Customs, and also features unique camo wheels, a roof rack, and yellow military-esque headlights,” GAS2 writes . “Tesla revealed the Veterans day tribute via its Facebook page , with this simple message; ‘A heartfelt Veterans Day thank you to all wh...
